Thank Senators Harkin and Cochran for Supporting Service!

Dear Chairman Harkin and Senator Cochran:

I am writing you today to thank you for fully funding the Corporation for National and Community Service above the President's requested level of $1.149 billion. I recognize that the country is facing many tough choices economically, but your decision to fully fund the CNCS will make a huge difference in ensuring that those Americans who wish to serve -- and there are more of them every day -- have the opportunity to do so.

As a member of the service community, I have witnessed your unwavering support for national service programs. You reaffirmed your dedication last spring when you voted "yes" on the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which will greatly expand full-time service opportunities at a time when our country needs it most. First-hand, you have seen the power of service throughout this country, and how when fully supported, service can have an enormous impact.

Once again, thank you for being a friend to the service community! I hope your colleagues follow your lead when the time comes for Congress to vote.
